This indicator quantifies the final consumption expenditure of households and nonprofit institutions serving households, represented in current international dollars adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP). It encompasses the total market value of all goods and services acquired by households, including durable goods like vehicles and appliances, while omitting residential property purchases but factoring in imputed rents for owner-occupied homes. Additionally, it accounts for fees paid to government entities for various permits and licenses. The unique aspect of using PPP ensures that these expenditure values are comparable across nations by neutralizing the impact of differing price levels, thus offering a clearer perspective on real consumption patterns globally.
