International tourism, receipts for passenger transport items (current US$)

This indicator captures the financial inflows generated from expenditures by foreign visitors specifically related to services provided by resident carriers during international transportation. It encompasses direct payments for passenger fares, which may include portions of package tours, as well as ancillary services such as charges for excess baggage and onboard consumables like food and drinks. Importantly, it also accounts for services rendered by nonresident carriers within the host economy. However, it excludes services offered by resident carriers to nonresidents within the local market, as those fall under different categories. By measuring these transactions in current U.S. dollars, this indicator offers valuable insights into the economic impact of inbound travel on national economies, reflecting trends in global tourism and transport.
