Primary completion rate, total (% of relevant age group)
This indicator reflects the proportion of students successfully completing the final grade of primary education, measured against the eligible population for that grade. Specifically, it accounts for the number of new registrants in the concluding year, excluding repeat students, and relates this figure to the cohort population expected to enroll. Such a metric provides critical insight into the effectiveness of educational systems and their ability to retain students through to the completion of primary schooling. However, it is important to note that this measure does not account for those who may drop out during that crucial final year, potentially presenting an overly optimistic view of educational attainment and necessitating a consideration of dropout rates for a fuller understanding of educational success.
