This indicator reflects the average applied tariff rates on primary products, calculated by taking a weighted mean that considers the share of each product's imports from partner countries. Utilizing the Harmonized System's six- or eight-digit classifications, data is meticulously organized according to the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC) revision 3, facilitating the identification of commodity categories and their respective import weights. The calculation encompasses specific rates converted into ad valorem equivalents whenever feasible, ensuring a comprehensive overview of trade barriers. In instances where effective rates are absent, the most favored nation rates are employed as a fallback.
